Chicago, IL- July 11, 2017 – This Wednesday, Sorority Alpha Kappa Delta and The Bowa Group celebrated the completion of the Ivy Center National Headquarters on the South Side of Chicago with a ceremonial key exchange in Las Vegas with the organization’s President and Board of Directors.
The sorority has long been a haven for young minority women and a source for powerful sisterhood since its founding at Howard University in 1908, calling Chicago their headquarters since 1949. After outgrowing several different locations over the years, AKA has resided on South Stony Island Avenue since 1984, a stone’s throw away from The University of Chicago. As the sorority’s membership continues to grow, the headquarters, too, required some updates and renovations to accommodate demands.
AKA selected the South Side-based Bowa Group to conduct the renovations, and have expressed their satisfaction with the finished product. Not only have the renovations been on schedule throughout the process, but the 32,000 SF of work was proudly performed under budget.
CEO, Nosa Ehimwenman represented The Bowa Group at the ceremony and expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to recognize the hard work behind the renovations and strong working partnership that grew with AKA over the course of the project. “It’s such an iconic building on the South Side,” said Ehimwenman, “and these women do a wonderful job upholding the rich history.”
